What is Low E?
'Low E' (for "low emissivity") is a special window coating with a unique microscopic glaze that helps to minimize the amount of UV, infrared, and visible light from penetrating the glass. This Low-E coating helps to repel heat rays during summer and cold drafts during winter.
What is Argon?
Argon is a non-toxic, inert, clear, odorless, and inexpensive gas used most often by window manufacturers to displace the air between the panels in windows. It comprises just less than 1% of the Earth's atmosphere.
How do they work together?
Low-E dual-pane argon-filled glass windows minimize UV light from penetrating, while argon gas (between the panes) helps to insulate a room by minimizing the transfer of heat or cold coming through the window. They have a slightly higher investment than a 'regular' double-pane glass window, but they offer greater energy savings over the long-term by lowering energy costs. With these type windows, you can ensure the climate is stable in your home or business, no matter the season.
What do they cost?
